Scottish Manufacturer of Fiber to Build First US Facility in North Carolina

The Emtelle Group, a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, plans to establish its first U.S. operations in Fletcher, North Carolina.

The Emtelle Group, based in Hawick, Scotland, is a leading maker of pre-connectorized blown fiber, cabling, and ducted solutions. They will operate within a 300,000-square-foot North Carolina facility to improve their position in the U.S. market, currently served through suppliers and distributors.

Emtelle currently operates facilities in the U.K., Denmark, and Germany and recently acquired AfriPipes, a manufacturer of telecommunications ducts based in Dubai. They also recently expanded its U.K. manufacturing facilities into Wrexham in Wales. Emtelle says, “All of these additional facilities will allow Emtelle to manufacture a core range of products to meet the demands of network operators, shortening supply chains and providing localized access to
its market-leading FTTx solutions.”

Emtelle CEO Tony Rodgers said that over the next five years, the billions of dollars invested in fiber rollouts in the U.S. and the new facility will “better position the company “to serve its North American customer base.” The new facility will produce Emtelle’s first fully ‘Made in the USA’ range of micro-ducts, conduits, and eventually its full complement of product solutions for Fiber to the Home (FTTH) applications.”

The project is expected to create as many as 200 U.S. jobs.
