Business Email Compromise What to Know and How to Protect Your Company

Speakers from the FBI Tampa office and Taray International will lead a webinar on September 8, 2021, sharing their experiences, tips, and pointers on protecting your company from email attacks.  This webinar is organized by the U.S. Commercial Service – Tampa Bay, with support from Global Tampa Bay and the Tampa Bay Organization of Women in International Trade.

In 2020, the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center received 19,369 Business Email Compromise complaints from US victims with adjusted losses of over $1.8 billion.  Scammers primarily target U.S. businesses that work with foreign suppliers/buyers or regularly perform wire transfer payments.  The scam succeeds by compromising legitimate business email accounts through social engineering or computer intrusion techniques.  Businesses of all sizes are targeted, and the fraud is proliferating.  Join this free briefing on Wednesday, September 8, to learn how to spot the red flags as well as techniques on how to protect your company.

Session 1:  How to classify your products, sanctioned countries, license exceptions, and record-keeping to protect your company.

Session 2:   How to use the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) website and where to get help.

AES/ACE Export Conference

All shipments leaving the USA are subject to the Foreign Trade Regulations and may be stuck in US Customs if out of compliance.  To avoid such situations, the US Commercial Service is holding a 2-part webinar in the afternoons on October 27 and 28.
