The World’s New Whitest White Paint . . . can save you money

Perdue University has “developed the whitest paint in the world” that has the ability to cut energy costs not just for manufacturers but the entire world.

Earlier this year, the ultra-white paint created by Purdue was named “the whitest white paint by the Guinness Book of World Records.”   The paint is 98.1% reflective, while others on the market range from 80%-90%.  It “absorbs less heat from the sun than it emits, which cools the surface without consuming power, and can keep surfaces up to 18 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than their ambient surroundings.

According to researchers, the paint could save about a dollar per day on air conditioning for just a one-story house of about 1,076 square feet.
